SUMMARY:Opti RWB Racing Team
DESCRIPTION:The Champ Fleet Race Team is for experienced Opti racers aged 9 to 14 seeking continued development of their skills on a regional-level travel team. Sailors progress into advanced handling and sail trim techniques while developing experience in race tactics\, wind strategy\, independent decision-making\, fitness\, tuning\, and sailing by the rules. Coaches provide a fun and supportive team environment to both nurture and challenge a competitive sailor through a season of training and regattas. \nFall Season: August 24th – December 10th\nTuition: Email hq@manateeriveryouthsailing.com or call (814) 566-5386.\nPractices: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30pm to 7:30pm and select Saturdays 9am to 1pm.\nRegatta Dates: 8/31 – 9/1\, 9/28\, 10/26-27\, 11/9\, 12/7 \nThis program is open to all experienced Opti racers aged 9-12 that have completed one season of our Green Fleet Race Team\, Opti 3 Advanced Class or equivalent. ​

SUMMARY:FALL SAILING CLASSES
DESCRIPTION:A streamlined version of our Intermediate Learn to Sail Classes are available in an after school format on Wednesday evenings from 4 to 7pm. These classes follow the same Pram 2 / Sailtrek 2 curriculum and teach all core fundamentals needed for a sailor to develop their skills from a novice to independent sailor.\n​\nIntermediate Sailing (Pram 2) continues the progression from Pram 1. This class is an excellent fit for sailors ages 8-12 with some previous experience and ready to sail a pram on their own. Trained instructors lead the class through a series of carefully planned fun games and activities. We aim for the experience to nurture sailors’ confidence through making new friends and developing seamanship skills. This class is primarily taught in our fleet of SailCubes\, a pram designed specifically for new sailors. By the end of the class\, our goal is to encourage sailors to try out and progress into an Optimist Dinghy or O’Pen Skiff. Sailors completing the Intermediate Sailing (Pram 2) class are encouraged to join our Adventure Fleet Program and Opti Green Fleet Racing Team. Prerequisites: Completion of a Beginner Sailing (Pram 1) class or equivalent knowledge and experience. Able to sail a pram solo in light winds. \nIntermediate Sailing (Sailtrek 2) is an excellent fit for teens ages 13 – 16 who have attended a previous sailing camp and would like to further develop their skills among friends. Trained instructors lead the group through a series of fun and creative activities designed to promote social interaction\, team building\, and improve dinghy sailing techniques. This class is ideal for teens who would like to try sailing a variety of boats including our Sunfish and C/420’s. This class encourages sailors to share skippering and crewing responsibilities while exploring local landmarks around the Manatee River and Terra Ceia Bay. ​Prerequisites: Completion of the Beginner Sailing (Sailtrek 1) class or equivalent knowledge and experience.
